The steps below cover everything in this lesson. Follow them in your own Kade, then check yourself at the end.
Before you start
- You are an owner or manager. Cashiers can look at items but never see costs.
- You know your way around Kade (see the Home and finding your way around lesson).
Step by step
1. Inventory at a glance
Inventory opens on its overview: Stock value (at cost), items running low, dead stock, and what is out of stock.
2. Low stock
Inventory › Low stock is the shopping list: everything at or below its minimum. Items with nothing left show in red.
3. The item list
Inventory › Items lists every product with its code, category, unit, stock and price. The Low stock and Out of stock chips narrow it in one click.
4. Open an item
Double-click an item to open it. Details holds its names, category, tax class, base unit and retail price.
5. Stock settings and history
Stock settings hold the minimum, reorder quantity and shelf location. History lists every movement, with the balance after each one.
6. Add an item
To add a new item, press Add item. Type its name and retail price, then what it cost you and how many are already on the shelf.
7. Save
Press Save. The item is ready to sell, with its cost and opening stock already counted.
Good to know
- Cost and Opening stock appear only when you add a new stock item. Services don't have them, and neither does an item that is already saved.
- Once stock has moved, an item's base unit is locked.
- Dead stock means items unsold for 90 days or more.
- Customer and trade prices for an item are set on price lists, in Sales & Invoicing › Price lists.
Try it yourself
- Open Inventory › Low stock and see what you need to reorder.
- In Items, double-click one of your products and look at its Stock settings and History.
- Press Add item, enter a name, retail price, cost and opening stock, and save it.
Recap
The overview and Low stock tell you what needs attention. Each item keeps its settings and a full history of movements, and a new item can start with its cost and opening stock, ready to sell.
