The steps below cover everything in this lesson. Follow them in your own Kade, then check yourself at the end.
Before you start
- You can ring up a sale (see the Your first sale lesson).
- Have the customer's receipt, or at least its number.
- A shift is open on this PC, so a cash refund can come from the drawer.
Step by step
1. Returns & refunds
Returns live in Point of Sale › Returns & refunds. The list shows every return from the last 30 days, with its reason and refund.
2. Start a return
Press New return. The wizard takes you through four steps: Receipt, Items, Refund and Confirm.
3. Find the receipt
Scan the receipt's barcode or type its number, then press Enter. Kade lists the items on it, and how many can come back.
4. Choose what comes back
Type how many are coming back. Then set the condition: Damaged goods are written off, and never go back on the shelf. Sellable goods go back to stock.
5. Reason and refund
Choose a reason for the return. The refund starts the way the customer paid, here in cash, and Kade shows the cash expected in the drawer.
6. Confirm and refund
Check the summary, then Confirm & print slip. The return is recorded, the slip prints, and you hand the customer their money.
Good to know
- Kade won't let more come back than was sold: the Can return column sets the limit, including anything already returned.
- The reasons are Wrong item, Damaged, Not needed, Wrong size and Other. Choosing Damaged as the reason sends the items to write-off.
- A refund can go back in cash, to the original method, or as store credit, and you can split it.
- A return with No receipt needs a manager's permission, so a cashier is asked for a manager's PIN.
Try it yourself
- Open Returns & refunds and press New return.
- Type the number of one of today's receipts and press Enter.
- Return one item as Sellable, choose a reason, and check the refund before you confirm.
Recap
That's a return: find the receipt, choose what comes back and its condition, then refund. Stock and the cash drawer stay right.
