The steps below cover everything in this lesson. Follow them in your own Kade, then check yourself at the end.
Before you start
- You are an owner or manager. Receiving stock needs permission to post goods received.
- Your items are set up in Kade (see the Items and stock levels lesson). A new supplier can be added straight from the supplier picker with Add supplier.
- Have the supplier's invoice or delivery note in front of you.
Step by step
1. Receive stock
When a delivery arrives, press F7 from anywhere in Kade. Receive stock opens in Purchasing, ready for a new goods received note.
2. Supplier first
Press Choose supplier first: each line then fills in at what they charged you last time. Add their invoice or delivery note number too.
3. Scan the items
Scan or type each item. A quantity, a star and the code adds several at once. The unit price comes in from this supplier's last delivery.
4. A new cost
This time the invoice price is higher. Type the new unit price, and the unit cost updates as you go.
5. Check selling prices
Press Post. Because the cost moved, Kade asks you to Check selling prices, with the old and new cost and margin. Nothing changes unless you tick it.
6. Post to stock
Tick the row to take the suggested retail price, then Post to stock. The stock goes up at once, and the average cost is worked out again.
Good to know
- Kade asks you to check selling prices when a cost moves by more than 5% (the default). Skip posts with no price change, and a delivery can never set a selling price of 0.
- Free items go in the Free column. The unit cost spreads what you paid over the paid and free quantity.
- A paid line with no cost shows No cost yet, and Kade won't post it until you enter what you paid or move it to the free column.
- Posting queues barcode labels for items that have a barcode.
Try it yourself
- Press F7 and choose one of your suppliers.
- Scan or type two items from a real delivery and check the unit prices against the invoice.
- Press Post. If Kade asks you to check selling prices, decide row by row, then Post to stock.
Recap
The note is posted. From here you can print labels, or create the supplier bill, which is the next lesson.
