The steps below cover everything in this lesson. Follow them in your own Kade, then check yourself at the end.
Before you start
- You can ring up a simple sale (see the Your first sale lesson).
- A shift is open on this PC.
- The customer already has a record in Kade, with a price list if they get trade prices.
Step by step
1. Start a bill
A builder walks in for a bag of cement. Press F2, pick the Building category, and tap the cement tile.
2. Attach the customer
He buys on a trade account, so press F5 and search by name or phone. Choose the customer, and every line is re-priced from their price list. The Customer button on the bill now shows his name.
3. Give a discount
To discount a line, select it and press F9. Type a percentage (5%) or an amount (50), then Apply. Each role has its own limit, and anything above it needs a manager's PIN.
4. Hold the bill
He's gone back to the truck to check his list. Press F6 to hold the bill, and the till is free for the next customer.
5. Find held bills
Held bills wait in their own list, Point of Sale › Held bills, on every PC in the shop. Each one shows who held it, for which customer, and how long it has been on hold.
6. Resume it
When he's back, select the bill and press Resume bill. The lines, the customer and the discount all come back exactly as they were.
Good to know
- Shift+F9 gives a discount on the whole bill. Kade spreads it over the lines, so tax and profit stay exact on each one.
- The default discount limits are 100% for the owner, 20% for a manager and 5% for a cashier.
- Finish, hold or cancel the current bill before you resume a held one. Resuming takes the bill off every PC's list.
- Held bills also appear on Home under Pick up where you left off. Discarding a held bill needs permission and a reason.
Try it yourself
- Press F2, add an item, and press F5 to attach one of your trade customers. Watch the price change.
- Select the line, press F9 and give a 5% discount.
- Press F6 to hold the bill, then open Held bills and resume it.
Recap
F5 puts a customer on the bill, F9 gives a discount, and F6 holds the bill until the customer is ready.
